Morning prayers are refreshing!!

Morning prayers are refreshing!!

i've not been waking up so early for sucha long time! its been 2 to 3 mths since my bio-clock went topsy-turvy! been slping at 4am to 5am and waking up at 10am to 12+pm or even at 2pm sometimes! but this very morning i woke up at 5.30am (*beams*) and forced myself to go to bed at 1am last night! but since im not used to slping so early i ended up tossing and turning in bed til 2+am before i eventually doze off~ thus its pretty shocking for some of my CG members to see me (the night owl as they called) that early in the morning!~ on top of that i was the First to reach Payer Lebar MRT station! haa! anyway shortly after i reach a few of them came and we went up for our morning Prayer Meeting! =)

its the first morning prayer meeting i attended. and i must say im pretty surprised that i felt so refreshed and felt good bout it! =) anyway after prayers, Kaiyun, John, Christine and me headed for McDonalds breakfast, while the others rushed to work. Christine left for work after breakfast while the 3 of us stayed on to continue fellowship~ chatted bout stuff and we got so caught up that we didnt realise we've chatted for 2 hours! haa~ after which we all headed home. =)

Upon reaching home did the housechores, iron and folded the basket of clothes, bath Muffin, practice on my guitar and did some revision. =) Waking up early is indeed good! Cuz i get to accomplish more things in the day!! looking forward to this whole wk of prayer meetings~ =)

woke up yesterday and realise my parents are both on leave!! weeee!! rare that i wake up on a wkday with people at home, as im home alone most of the days!! whole house only me and my darling Muffin!! And since its Mummy's birthday today, we decided to go out for lunch together though we had alrdy done a advanced celebration for her at Hotel Rendezvous on Sunday. =)

Anyway, we headed to Tampines Safra to have Sakura for lunch! i must say tt the food there is HORRIBLE!! gosh..their standards have dropped so much!!! Only the Sashimi and Dessert tasted ok. Everything else tasted terrible~ the food aint fresh, weird tasting, and its just bad! guess we wont be going back there to eat anymore~

anyway after lunch, we went to the Fruit Machine room also known as Jackpot room for awhile before heading home...upon heading home i bath Muffin and prep and headed out to meet sweety Erica for retail therapy!! haha! plus i had to look for a present for my sweety Caelyn! shopped from Wisma to Taka to Fareast. had dinner at Carls Jr at Fareast and chatted while waiting for time to pass before we head to Borders to walk around and then took a cab down to Double O to meet Caelyn!!

the night was great and her bday cake looks pretty nice! had the cake cutting session, lotsa drinking of Martel, Tequila shots (my fave!) and her friends got her a flaming Lamborghini! danced for awhile, played some cakes, took photos and soon after Caelyn was totally wasted and both me and Erica ended up spending the rest of the night taking care of her. haha! bumped into quite a few friends as well and some of them happen to be common friends that turned up for her bday. =) i shant go into details as to what happen after she got drunk haha! but anyway her bf soon send her home and the night ended.. =)

Thus we went thru all the basics to refresh my memory today~ Gosh and i must comment, Winston is not only good with the guitar, his vocals are pretty impressive as well!! And did i mention he is the guitarist of their band named Supernova! =)

Known him for about 8+yrs in secondary school as he was my senior back then, and i only know he plays the guitar, but didnt know he can actually play it so well and sing so well too. haha!

Anyway Thanks bro for the lesson today! =) Hopefully by next week i've improved abit! So i can learn more new stuff!! Weeeee~

Updates of My Weekend!

Updates of My Weekend!

On Friday, 29May09, went to pick my bf up from work as his car's battery went flat and couldnt start up thus he didnt drive for the day. after which we went down to Expo to have our dinner at BurgerKing before we proceed for our Bible Study session! Song of Solomon! Very gd session indeed! Theres a total of 5 Session, and this is the first~ looking forward to the next 4 sessions~ During the BS, i gotta learn that Lily represents Holiness and Purity!! and so happen Yuriko means Lily Child!! Weeee~ hehe! After Bible study, we headed to have supper with some of our CG members and went to Simpang Bedok. After supper, sent bf home to get his dad's car, while i continued to send John and Jessica home before heading home to park and car and bf came to pick me up and we headed back to his place for the night. =)

Yesterday 30May09, woke up in the morning and we sent bf's car to change the battery after which he sent me home and proceeded for his Muay Thai lesson while i prep to go to school. Went to school for my EC tutorial. After lesson Kelvin sent me home before he went to meet his gf who stays near me. Upon reaching home rested for awhile and waited for bf to come pick me up. He and Sylvia came to pick me up and we went for our church service. After service, we left and headed to Pasir Ris Whitesand to have Superdog for dinner. Well it tasted not bad, but i feel its so NOT worth the money!! cuz the bread used is those bread that we can easily buy from supermarkets! and i always eat that bread at home!! Faints~ I could easily buy some hotdogs sausages and make my own Superdog~ Plus the fries is nothing special as well. tasted very normal and i could easily cook my own fries that may taste better too! Swear i WONT eat it again!! Anyway after dinner we went to Changi Village as Sylvia wanted to meet someone there for awhile. After which we send her home and went to Serangoon Central to meet Jiabao, Jialiang, Adrian, Phyllis, Jaspal, Jenson and Dilwyn for supper. Had prata while they chatted til very late before we made our way home. I was alrdy very very tired by this time as i had slept late the night before due to insomnia and woken up very early this morning. I even doze off while at the prata shop! faints~

as for Today! 31May09, woke up and i made breakfast for us before we head down to get Mummy's present and went to Hotel Rendezvous to meet my parents for Hi-Tea to celebrate my Mum's advanced Birthday! =) We headed to Straits Cafe. Havent been there for a yr or so and realize they've renovated the place! looks quite gd now and the place seem brighter! On top of that, business seem much better as well~ the place was packed with people within no time. The food variety and taste are also better now~ But of cuz with that, the price per pax increased as well! haha! Its $32++ per pax now, i cant rmbr how much it cost last time though. haha! Anyway Hi-Tea was pretty good, with lotsa chatting, laughing, eating and also phototaking! =)

whoever said History was boring!!

whoever said History was boring!!

happen to be checking my email and chanced upon this interesting mail! Do read it! u'll definitely learn something new!! haa!

The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be in England are some facts about the 1500s!!

Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and till smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it.. Hence the saying, Don't throw the baby out with the Bath water...

Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was he only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, ugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals could slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying . It's raining cats and dogs.

There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existence.

The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying, Dirt poor. The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they added more thresh until, when you opened the door, it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entranceway. Hence the saying a thresh hold = threshold.

(Getting quite an education, aren't you?)

In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and then start over the next day.
Sometimes stew had food in it that had been there for quite a while. Hence the rhyme,
Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old..

Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could, bring home the bacon. They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and chew the fat..

Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leak onto the food, causing lead poisoning death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous.

Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or the upper crust.

Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. The combination would sometimes knock the imbibers out for a couple of days ... Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of holding a wake.

England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a bone-house, and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the graveyard shift) to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be, saved by the bell.

And that's the truth...Now, whoever said History was boring!!

(Btw i didnt know which Label/Tag this post should go under, thus i just place it in Jokes. haha!)

Breaking News!! Singapore has confirmed the first H1N1 flu case!!

Breaking News!! Singapore has confirmed the first H1N1 flu case!!

A 22-year-old Singaporean woman who returned from New York has tested positive for swine flu, in the city-state's first confirmed case, the Ministry of Health said.

Singapore has confirmed its first case of influenza A(H1N1)," the ministry said in a statement.

It said the patient was being treated at a communicable disease centre and was in a stable condition. She is also the latest of nearly 13,000 cases worldwide.

The woman was in New York from May 14-24, returning on a Singapore Airlines flight on Tuesday, during which she developed a cough.

The ministry said all her "close contacts" will be quarantined and provided with antiviral medication.

The government has been warning Singaporeans for weeks to prepare for an inevitable H1N1 outbreak in the city-state, a regional financial and trading center and the world's busiest port.

The government is continuing with screening at border checkpoints and asked people to stay at home if suffering flu symptoms. It also advised caution over travel to affected areas.

Singapore financial markets shrugged off the news. Singapore's central bank said in April that the global outbreak of flu clouded the outlook for the country.
