Recently after my jog, went with my friend to have our lunch nearby where we were, and that happened to be at
Lavender. My friend recommended a Pork noodles which was supposedly the Best in Singapore or so they c
laim. Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodles.
When we reach the place, it was situated at a coffee shop and among all the other stall, the queue for this was significantly long. I hesitated queuing but decided to give it a try since its suppose to be the best. Judging from the queue, in a normal circumstances in other stalls, it should take about half an hour to at most an hour.
Typically, most of my friends and family should know, I'm not one who would queue for food or for anything at all for the that matter. Anything more than 5 people in line, would be considered long for me. I will not wait more than 15mins! I'm the type who would go for the shortest queue nearest to wherever I'm seating. That's me. So my answer to my title, would obviously be a
NO!
But decided to make this an exception after hearing the review and recommendations. And so we joined the queue, got ourselves a drink and chatted while waiting. Minutes pass, half an hour pass, and by
45mins, my can of coke was already gone. and guess what, the queue hardly moved, we were only merely
1/2 there. By then I've lost my patience, and my feet were already screaming out for a rest. And so I left the queue and went to look for a seat while my friend continued in line.
By
1 and a half hours, my stomach were already growling badly, and to make it worse, my iPhone died on me, and I had absolutely nothing to do but just stare at the queue and wait. When the food FINALLY came, I'm sure we waited for
2 hours just to have our lunch.
ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!
And from what I observed, there were even people from Malaysia who came in to Singapore specially to eat it! Honestly, half an hour is already long enough, but 2 freaking hours?! Omg! It may be their tactic to make people queuing hungry from the long wait, so when they finally get to eat, any food that goes in to fill their tummy would taste good anyway. But that certainly didn't work for me. The long wait made me lost my appetite and obviously my patience.
And by now, I guess most of you would be wondering, "so was the queue worth it? is the food really good?"
My answer to that.
NO! So
NOT worth it! OMG! I cant believe I waited 2 hours just for this. I guess some other pork noodles from some random places probably tasted better.
But then again. This is just my review. To each its own. My friend on the other hand felt the wait was worth and that its the best in Singapore. So I guess, judge it for yourself, just my 2 cents worth of warning though!!
